The Weekend WOW: Free Stuff Edition!

Throughout any given week, I strive to share hilarious, truthful, fantastic new, sad, (free!) resonating things on my Twitter and Facebook. At the end of the week, I condense the very best of Internetdom into a WOW-tastic blog post I call The Weekend WOW. And what a wonderful WOW-tastic week on the World Wide Web it was.

+ WOW what a hilarious blog post: Jon Acuff’s “5 Ways to Write a Christian Twitter Profile” via Stuff Christians Like. As usual, Jon hits Christian culture with spot-on hilarity. My favorite way to write the perfect Christian Twitter profile would be a fun combination of “Emo” and “LOTR-ish.” Something like: Stained struggler, redeemed by the Renown. Feel free to use that for your own Twitter profile; I only kindly ask for a shout-out.

+ WOW what a truthful tweet: I’m a big fan of Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation. In my opinion, Swanson is even more iconic than The Office‘s Michael Scott. Exhibit A: the truth about milk that lies.

+ WOW what a fantastic new album: Switchfoot’s latest creation, Fading West. It’s currently streaming (free!) at Relevant Magazine’s “The Drop.” I’m not a huge Switchfoot fan, but I highly recommend this particular listening experience. I’m totally digging the energy levels and lyrical output.

+ WOW what a sad Instagram photo: I snapped this picture via my Instagram a few days ago, and I almost wept in this poor purposeless phone booth’s presence. Side note: if you say anything about Doctor Who, I will rapidly lose interest.

Sad Phone Booth

+ WOW what a (free!) resonating book: Pilgrims of the Alley: Living Out Faith in Displacement by Dave Arnold. I’ve only read the first couple chapters, but I’m already sold on this book filled with such evocative TMZ language like “longing” and “aching” and “purpose.” And you guys can also be sold FOR FREE, though I don’t know for how much longer. So, if you’re a Kindle user, go ahead and download the book now before the window closes. I think you’ll be glad you did.

Do you wish we still used phone booths in America? What are your thoughts on Switchfoot? And what does your Twitter profile say? Sound off below!
